it's day like today...

I'll be honest. There are times that I envy those who have "adult" time outside of the house, those who can run to to the store (alone!) on their lunch break, those who don't spend their day getting spit-up on and pulled on. But it's days like today that I know that I'm absolutely exactly where I should be. That nothing is more important or that could make me happier than being a work-at-home mommy. I am here for every boo boo, diaper, song, meal, bed time, and bath.

My girls are my world, and once in a while they find ways to remind me that I am right where I belong, that they are happy, and that life is better than I could have ever imagined it. Love definitely makes my world go round, and I know I'm blessed to be able to be at home with my girls. As soon as I can I'll be scrapbooking these sentiments... but for now I just wanted to get it in writing (here) so I don't forget the moment. The emotion. The love in this moment.

As much as I love scrapping big events, so often it's the little moments, the tiniest details that I adore capturing in my scrapbook pages. Because life often doesn't give me enough time to scrap them all (yet!) I keep a journal and a blog so that I can record my thoughts and so they'll be remembered when I do have the time to scrap...

matchbox cars...

OW. My foot is totally throbbing. I stepped on an old matchbox car last night and now have a totally sore, painful, and raw arch of my right foot.

owwwwwiiiiieeeeeeeeeee!

Ah well, all a part of the magic and bliss of life with a 2 year old who loves to surprise me with toys in odd places. Life is never dull, and is always changing- that's for sure. Gotta keep writing all these adventures down. In the meantime it's 530am and once again I did not get the luxury of a full night of sleep. The girls have been sick and also Rebecca seems to be in a feeding frenzy phase... in fact she just woke up again.

Nobody ever said wee ones were easy to raise- I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

a different angle

I'm always looking around for things to photograph in my everyday life. One thing I just love to do is to find a different view. Get way down low, aim from up above... looking at things from a different angle can sometimes find some cute shots. Like Miss R's toes. She's just now big enough for her bouncy chair. She sooo loves it already. Good times for sure.

(back to my regularly scheduled pre-holiday frenzy...)

BOHNANA (aka banana)

"mommy, make BOH-NANA cake please!" I went searching because 1) I love banana walnut bread and 2) I have RIPE bananas often since it's a staple in Elizabeth's diet... this bread? SOOO GOOD!!!!!

Banana Walnut Bread
From Food Network Kitchens

1 1/4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon fine salt

2 large eggs, at room temperature

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature, plus more for preparing the pan

1 cup sugar

3 very ripe bananas, peeled, and mashed with a fork (about 1 cup)

1/2 cup toasted walnut pieces

Sift the flour, baking soda, and salt into a medium bowl, set aside. Whisk the eggs and vanilla together in a liquid measuring cup with a spout, set aside. Lightly brush a 9 by 5 by 3-inch loaf pan with butter. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

In a standing mixer fitted with the paddle attachment or with an electric hand-held mixer, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually pour the egg mixture into the butter while mixing until incorporated. Add the bananas (the mixture will appear to be curdled, so don't worry), and remove the bowl from the mixer.

With a rubber spatula, mix in the flour mixture until just incorporated. Fold in the nuts and transfer the batter to the prepared pan. Bake for 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean. Cool the bread in the pan on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Turn the bread out of the pan and let cool completely on the rack. Wrap in plastic wrap. The banana bread is best if served the next day.

a work in progress...

that's how I'll describe life right now. I'm a firm believer that life is always a work in progress. But right now that couldn't be more true! I have a lot of stuff going on- just not much to share/show yet.

In BPS news we're going to be offering my crazy about kits class again. AND I'm developing a brand new class for late winter/early spring... can't wait to share more on that...

In other news I'm going to be taking pics of the girls for christmas cards today (wish me luck!), I've still got a scary mountain to move for fed-ex, and yesterday I was reminded that there are 2 weeks left till Thanksgiving. egads.

My final 'work in progress' to share today is that I have some pretty plans for this site... just gotta get through some other stuff before I can put the time in. :) Thanks for dropping by!

pumpkin memories...

Yes, the pumpkin princesses on Halloween. Such cuties, so much fun. Things have been crazy with a capitol C around here. I so want to scrap all these pics... just need some free time (ha!) I am shocked to announce I'm 2 lbs lighter- despite Halloween being last week. Some kind of miracle for sure! All the running around must finally be paying off I guess...

In fun news THE laptop is here. YES! My laptop, my very own computer. (sigh) I am so happy. Can't wait until Jason and his tech-loving dad hook it all up for me today.

Well off to work on some BIG new things, catch up on my fed-exing (for Fiskateers) and more fun stuff...

just me-

I've thought about starting up my own personal blog for quite a while now... and I've decided to go for it. I so *NEED* this. I want this. Yeah, this is gonna be fun. Recipes, pics of the girls, random happenings in my 'scrap' life... this is my virtual home away from home (fiskateers).
